Jack London in the Southern Seas
8 September 2017 – 7 January 2018
This exhibition, organised by the Musées d’Arts Africains, Océaniens, Amérindiens invites you on a journey and an adventure, the hallmarks of the life and works of Jack London.
Numerous objects and documents are on display, some exhibited to the public for the very first time, giving us the chance to relive one of the writer’s boldest gambles: his journey in the Southern Seas between 1907 and 1909.
The exhibition focusses on the archipelagos visited by the author aboard the Snark: Hawaii, the Marquesas islands, Tahiti, Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu islands etc.
By getting us to experience the excitement of the seafaring adventure afresh, and his magical encounters, this exhibition offers an incredible insight into the cultural diversity of the people of the Pacific.
